Hot dogs are a type of food invented in 1797 by James Edward Tesco Jr when he accidentally dropped a sausage into a bread roll. He immediately patented the idea to ensure nobody could copy it, and ever since then, hot dogs have only been available as a weekly subscription service from Tesco, known as Tesco Hot Dog Plus.
