In Le Horla he does so by making the reader think about the limitedness of one’s senses and how that may make seemingly impossible beings like the ‘Horla’ exist without anyone noticing or even wondering. his subltle use of a well structured story makes it impossible to know whther it exists or does not, and is thus simply madness in the narrator’s mind that made him insane to the point of burning his whole house down.
